Question
Occasional y, after turning on the engine the airbag and ABS warning lights stay on longer than 20 sec. and the wind shield wipers won't work. If I raise and lower the electric windows the warning lights go off and the wipers now work. This has occurred 5 times in the last 6 mos. Now - every thing is acting normally. Any Ideas?
Answer #1
I've seen this happen on other cars, and it was the ignition switch. Next time it happens, before you operate the windows, jiggle the ignition key a little and see if that helps.

I have heard of this happening on Fords and it was the battery. The battery checks out fine on load and static test but replacing the battery solves the problem.

Thanks for your reply. Yes, by pushing the key in all the way was the solution to turning the warning lights off.
