RepairPal Expert Overview:

Power steering fluid may leak from the pipe connection at the steering gear valve housing. This could lead to a sudden loss of power steering, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the oil pipes on the power steering rack to correct this concern. This recall is expected to begin on May 31, 2011. The Volvo recall number is R242.

RepairPal Expert Overview:

A crack may have developed on the top of the passenger side support member in the engine compartment during the manufacturing process. Cracking in this area can affect performance of the front structure in the event of a crash. If cracks are found, the vehicle will be taken out of service and replaced with one of equal specification. This recall is scheduled to begin by April 15, 2011. The Volvo recall number is R241.

Volvo is recalling certain passenger vehicles equipped with power front passenger seats because the front seat rail's detection system was manufactured incorrectly. This can cause the passenger seat to move beyond the intended maximum, which may increase the risk of injury to the passenger in a crash. Dealers will inspect and repair the rails free of charge.

The engine computer is programed to shut off the fuel system under certain conditions. The software has been determined to be too sensitive and may cause the engine to stall under normal driving conditions. This recall involves updating the software in the engine and transmission control modules to correct this condition.

Volvo is recalling 2010 XC60 models due to a curtain air bag that may have been assembled improperly during the manufacturing process. This may cause the air bag not to deploy correctly, increasing the risk of injury. Dealers will inspect the curtain air bag assembly and adjust if necessary.

RepairPal Expert Overview:

Volvo is recalling all models equipped with Garmin 760 Portable Global Positioning System units because the battery may overheat, which could lead to a fire. Volvo advises owners to stop using the Garmin device immediately and consult the Garmin website to determine if they have a defective unit. The unit's battery will be replaced and a spacer inserted to prevent the problem from reoccurring. This will be performed free of charge.

Volvo is recalling 2010–2011 280 and XC70; 2011 XC60; and 2010 V70 models due to an intermittent fault in driver's air bag clockspring wiring connector for the supplemental restraint system. In the event of a crash, the driver's air bag may not deploy, increasing the risk of injury. Dealers will install a metal shim in the driver's air bag clockspring wiring connector, free of charge.

The tire pressure information on the tire and loading label on the door frame may contain incorrect information about the maximum inflation pressure. Also, the tire pressure monitoring system software may be calibrated incorrectly. The page in the vehicle owner's manual also has incorrect information. This does not conform to the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard. Dealers will update the affected vehicles with a new tire and loading information and owner's manual labels, and the TPMS software will be updated. The recall began August 27, 2010. The Volvo recall number is R228.

For Models: Volvo C30, Volvo S40, Volvo V50

RepairPal Expert Overview:

The shifter on a manual transmission may be loose where it mounts to the assembly. A loose shifter may present a loss of shifting and vehicle control. Dealers will re-torque the shifter lever assembly to the correct specification. This recall began on June 14, 2010. The Volvo recall number is R227.

Volvo is recalling 2010 XC70 models for failing to comply with federal safety standards on tire selection and rims. Affected models were sold with incorrect maximum permissible inflation pressure labels; the owner's manual also contains incorrect information. Dealers will install the new labels free of charge.
