The Engine May Stall Du to ECM Software Concern
The engine could stall unexpectedly because the software in the engine compute is too sensitive.
Volvo will notify owners of affected vehicles beginning December 10, 2010. If you are experiencing an engine stalling condition, or you don't receive notification and you feel you should have, please contact your dealer. It’s helpful to have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call. The Volvo recall number is R234.
The engine computer is programed to shut off the fuel system under certain conditions. The software has been determined to be too sensitive and may cause the engine to stall under normal driving conditions. This recall involves updating the software in the engine and transmission control modules to correct this condition.

ENGINE AND ENGINE COOLING
VOLVO IS RECALLING CERTAIN MODEL YEAR 2011, S80, S60, XC70 AND XC60 VEHICLES. THE SOFTWARE CALIBRATION FOR THE FUEL CUT-OFF FUNCTIONALITY IN THE ENGINE CONTROL MODULE (ECM) IS TOO SENSITIVE.
SUDDEN ENGINE STALL COULD OCCUR INCREASING THE RISK OF A CRASH.
DEALERS WILL UPDATE THE ECM AND TCM WITH NEW SOFTWARE FREE OF CHARGE. THE SAFETY RECALL IS EXPECTED TO BEGIN ON OR BEFORE DECEMBER 10, 2010. OWNERS MAY CONTACT VOLVO AT 1-800-458-1552 OR AT CUSTOMERCARE@VOLVOFORLIFE.COM.
