I caught the shop forman, "Bill", trying to talk me into several hundred dollars of unnecessary repairs. I am a long time customer and have had 2 cars serviced there for the last 11 years. While they have always done good work and on time, since Bill took over, it seems serious repair problems were discovered more frequently. On my last major service Bill called me and said front ball joints, connecting rods, and tie rods should all be replaced plus an alignment was needed. The extra work was going to cost about $700+. I refused to let him do it and the following week I took the car to Lawrence Volvo in Walnut Creek, an excellent but inconvenient for me dealer, and where I had originally purchased one of the 2 Volvos I still have. They said the alignment was needed but that no parts were currently worn enough to warrant replacement, and that some of these parts had already been replaced. So I must conclude that Bill tried to sell me unnecessary repairs. So, if you go there for routine service you will probably be OK, but if additional repair needs are discovered, seek out a "Volvo only" dealer (not Royal Motors) and get a second opinion. Otherwise, I must conclude there is a high probability you will get ripped off. I'm not going back until "Bill" is no longer there.
