Question: Vehicle will not release from Park

 Rookie

Sometimes after the car is placed in Park, the transmission selector cannot be released from Park regardless of whether or not the vehicle is on level ground or on an incline. Pressing in the brake pedal harder makes no difference. The only way the vehicle releases is to rock the vehicle. It is still under warranty

    Suggest taking vehicle Back to your Local Dealership for Warranty Repairs . Two items that need Inspection for Park lever not releasing are Brake light switch and Shift Selector Solenoid for intermittent operation. Special tools may be needed to perform inspection of items mentioned.

    Before you release your brakes apply the hand brake. Just placing it in the park position usually locks the park tab in the transmission. This is commen all cars if you do not use the hand brake.
