it may be on the back of the motor and may have a small heat shield over it.

sounds like you have a tranny fluid leak onto a exhaust pipe.could also be engine oil.

first check all the fuses and relays - if good test the alt. with a volt meter directly on the rear of alt. ive seen rebuilt and ever new alt. fail right out of the box.
