changed timing belt on friends 2.0l 4 cyl.never drove car myself so i dont know how it was running before hand.had codes 300-301-171-1380 prior to my repair.belt was off gears and shreaded.ran good after repair for a short time but now has a bad miss at all rpm ranges.replaced plugs and tested wires - all ok (under 7 ohms)now i have the same codes up again after i reset them.any ideas?

cruise has never worked since i got the car 4 yrs ago.fuses are ok. is a former government car and may have been shut off by a tech.any ideas as where to look?speedo works cruise light on dash.

was told the thermostat was bad. i replaced it and it still heats up. upper hose is hot while lower is cooler and engine gauge reads hot and the radiator fan will not come on even when th a/c is switched on and the heater blows cold.

compression test your motor.throw out the thermostat and see where the temp.runs at that point.once you have overheated the thermostat is suspect.

a new starter may be a good has a problem with bad starters when the motor is hot.change it and see what happens.

Problem Reported: Intake Manifold Gaskets May Leak Coolant or Engine Oil

The intake manifold gasket may develop and external engine oil or coolant leak. In some cases, an internal coolant leak may occur causing coolant to mix with the engine oil. Our technicians tell us that operating the engine  with a coolant/oil mix can result in internal engine damage. Replacing the intake manifold gasket should correct these leaks.

The rubber section of an automatic transmission cooler line may develop a fluid leak . In some cases the leaking section of hose can be replaced. In others, the complete cooler line must be replaced to correct this concern.

my 97 lumina has run good and been has most of the problems other owners talk about.worst of all is the coolant leak on the driver side intake manifold.also a/c compresseor blew out front seal .also cant seem to find a low coolant switch that works-ive tried 3
