Question Answered:

sad to say, but i had this problem with my 2008. had oil change, new filter. all fluids checked. just regular routine maintanence . my light went out. didn't run diagnostics. not sure if this is your problem, but read my manual it states your engine light will come on when oil change, fluids checked is due.

Question Answered:

I had the same problem with my Rav4 2008. Toyota told me the same. Took mine to Monroes Brake and muffler, they put a harness on mine and drove it. came up with 2 codes. So called toyota back told them the codes found. Cost me 100 to have diagnosis ran. they came up with 3 codes. c1249, c1223, p1578. Stating i needed a stop light/brake light switch. This fix the problem. All 3, VSC,ABS, Brake light stayed on. The ABS was the actual problem, which will cause both the VSC and Brake light to stay on. replace the brake light switch and problem fixed. use the last 10 digits on your vin number to get your OEM part #.
