When I use the heater, I can smell gas (did not smell with AC) and the mileage goes down significantly. I cannot think of any way these two are related but that is what is happening. Please advise.
There are three metal knocks, in quick succession, resembles radial tires going over a crack in the road. Happens as fast as you can read knock, knock, knock. It is solid sound, not a tinty and nothing else happens with the engine. No hesitation or drop in RPM.
The gauge is showing one or two hash marks high, occassionally goes higher and blows cold air from heater. After getting that high, goes back to normal and stays there. Usually does this when the car has sat for 30 minutes or more. The cooling fans are running during this time.
I rotated my tires recently and within two days the break light and traction control lights are on (started as intermittant). Also, when I start the car the alarm sound comes on (the 10 ding ding sound) and the display shows to service break system, traction control system and two more. Breaks work fine, same as before rotation. Thought maybe I could have knocked something loose.
I have confirmed the PCM or ECM (I have heard it called both) is bad. I am getting two different stories concerning buying a used one. Can a used one be reprogrammed to my VIN? The reason for a used one is new it cost $350 plus $125 programming and used is $50 plus same programming.
Is it possible that a dead battery, even on a jump, would not have the proper voltages to make the PCM function. Still have the crank wont start problem. Have replaced the Crank Position sensor, still no spark; I have voltage measurements on the sensor connector. The engine quit while driving and has never restarted.
If the Crank Shaft Position Sensor is bad, will you still get spark at the plugs? If one coil is bad the car should still start right? It is cranking but not starting, fuel pump is good. Checked the pressure on the fuel rail. Could it be the Cam Position sensor?
I had a used transmission put in about 18 months ago, the shifter has been sloppy since then. The shop I worked with went out of business and I just never took it somewhere else. Is there an adjustment to fix this and tighten up the sloopiness? They are all selected when I put it in neutral also.
was needing a jump to start, replaced battery, fine for about a month, same deal, today will not start even with a jump. at one point when i turned the key, the speedometer went up to about 50 MPH indication and can hear a quite buzzing noise under passenger side of dash.
Car was making some minor transmission noises and hard shifts. Before I got it in for repair it had a loud clunk and stopped. Now engine does not turn over either. Had routine maintenance done regularly and only has 95K miles. Is it just the tranny or could it have caused some kind of engine problem.
