I have a 2003 Neon SXT (bought it new in 2004) which has 119,000 miles on it and has had very little work done on it other than regular oil changes, some break work, and recently a replaced hose to clear a check engine light for an evaporative emissions error. However, the clutch is in bad shape and I hear that replacing the engine timing belt is highly recommended at 100k+ miles. The local shop estimates the job to be $800-$1k for the clutch and I'm guessing somewhere in the $400 range for the timing belt. So the question is, is my Neon worth fixing up, or are enough things likely on the horizon that will need fixing that I'd be better off with a newer (presumably under warranty) car?
