I have a hard time starting my Corolla when it has been sitting for a few hours/overnight. When I turn the key in the ignition, the starter cranks up briskly, but the engine has a hard time "catching." After 2-3 times, it will finally catch, but the car shakes and pops. When I depress the accelerator to get the car moving, it is very hesitant and does not respond as it should. The car eventually responds, a little shaky though, then runs close to normal. When stopped at lights or stop signs, the car idles very hard. The starting problem only occurs when the car has been sitting for a while. The hard idle is always present. What could the problem be? I have had the timing belt, the spark plugs, the fuel filter, and the alternator replaced recently, but the problem persists.
