A faulty canister purge solenoid can cause this as well because if the pcm does not see a change in the ftp sensor reading it assumes that there is a large hole and the tank cannot be pulled into a vacuum to check for leaks.just something that I've run into before.
It is a possibility, but I would need to feel it myself. have a mechanic take a peek at it
without a scan tool it would be guessing. some parts stores will retrieve the codes for free, just don't let them suggest what it needs.
Ignition timing at 10 degrees btdc?
check fuses, when you find a fuse that is blown find out what circuits it powers and trace the wires to each component that it powers.
wd-40 and shop air
these trucks are also known for failed crankshaft pulleys/harmonic balancer, they come apart and will rub on the crank sensor and cause the vehicle to stall.
catalytic converters can fail as a result of multiple misfire events due to raw fuel entering them and causing the converters to overheat.
need to start by scanning it. most common part fail is dpfe sensor, but make sure and get it scanned first.
I would start by getting it scanned to see if any codes are set and then go from there.
