I replaced the plug and plug wire. Where should I look next? Actually at the time the #1 & #4 cylinder's both were not firing. I replaced all the plug wires and the #1 came back but not the #4. I then replaced the plug on it and had no luck. By the way the engine is a 4 cylinder.
we drive to a destination then stop from 1/2 to 1 1/2 hours and the airbag in the steering wheel feels very hot while none of the other equipment in the vicinity does. Why
we looked in the owners manual and it said to re-tighten the gas cap. we did that and it went off.
My 2003 Ford Ranger starts well, idles well and sometimes drives well. But quite a bit of the time any more it acts like it has no power. it misses out. I replaced the fuel filter, had the exhaust checked to make sure the catalytic converter is ok and had it hooked up to a diagnostics machine but have had no luck diagnosing it. The mechanic has it right now and is replacing emissions items but is stumped as to why it is acting the way it is.
It possibly could be a clogged fuel filter that is letting enough gas through to idle but not to accelerate. Another possiblity is a bad catalytic converter that is going bad and not letting the exhaust through so it won't accelerate well.
The first time it happened the lights flashed on and off several times then went off altogather. I switched to high beams and they came back on. The next night the same thing happened but after I switched to high beams they went off all the way for 30 seconds then came back on. It seems to be getting worse as each incident happens. I don't know if it is a relay problem or what?
