i think your referring 1000 rpm, a little high if the car is in normal temp already it should read 750-800 rpm.
did you check oil level maybe its over filled, i would change oil first before buying parts.

check your fuel pressure if they are good and strong, then check if you have spark.

its hard to guess but start to check your starter maybe getting weak and battery post, battery cables make sure you have good battery. check your ignition switch. if you have check engine light on that helps also whats the problem and post the codes here.

it sounds to me that you need a new engine. what preventive maintenance have you done to this car in the past few months or year?
go with your first option if its not overheating.
i would bring it to a shop that perform test to find out your oil leak and maybe compression test also.
