There are times my car just won't start... Kinda sounds like it's either flooded or outta gas... My oil dipstick also smells like fuel!

Question Asked:

after driving my car, I shut it off for about an hour, when I went to start it, it refused to crank. It sounded as if it was outta fuel but was not. When the tow truck arrived about 2 hours later, he started the car and it turned on immediately. I drove the car back home no problems. Could this be indication that the fuel pump is about to go?
