When I bought my 1994 T-Bird in February, I said, "I'll drive it for 20 years"! Seventeen years later, it now has 198K+ miles on it. It's been a great car. Too bad a couple of the mechanics haven't been so great! :-)

Question Asked:

A mechanic said he adds 1 qt. of 20/50 to 10/40 when he changes oil. I asked about the "no Zink" in the new oil not good for older engines. I've used 10/40 for many years, now. Do you think this is a good idea?

The two seem to be used interchangably? Or am I misreading the terms?

Had a multipoint check done12/11/12.Found EGR-No Flow Detected.Could this be the cause? The surging is getting worse over the last few months. Need to fix problem. Had the Idle Air Control Valve replaced in 1995 w/20K miles. It caused a serious lurch at a stop!

There are 212,000 miles on this transmission. Is there anything special I should do to keep it going as well as the first 212,000 miles?

2012, 15:30 Enthusiast Here's what he say's - for $270+tax he'll diagnose & fix the problem. If it cost more, he'll let me know how much more! He wouldn't give me a bottom line quote to just diagnose the problem. I find this excessive & questionable. What do you think?

Question Asked:

I've been using 10-40 weight for several years. I've not had any engine problems. Although, there may be some coming up! I'm being told by Jiffy Lube it's outdated, not in use. They don't stock it anymore.
