This car has already had the head gasket machined and then the car overheated again. It has 56000 Miles on it. Now we are told it needs an engine replacement and are confused as to whether it should be a Junk Yard motor or a Japanese motor. Also how long it should be warranteed?
So if the head gasket work was done and then a week and a half later the car overheats again and then they tell us it needs a replacement engine could the gasket work have then caused this to happen (ie machine shop work or how they put it back together?) Did they not apply due diligence in the diagnosis of the problem? ALSO is it better to get a "junk yard" replacement engine or a "japanese" used engine? Both would have mileage under 60K. Thanks so much.
The car overheated and first we were told to replace the hoses and coolant etc,. then again and told to flush coolant and transmission, then again and told had to do a head gasket repair and that would certainly take care of the problem, then again and told we need a new engine!! What is the problem?
