I recently had this happen on my automatic VW Golf, so I don't know if this is the same problem or not, but it may give you somewhere to start. When my car wouldn't shift out of park my boss was kind enough to dismantle the plastic casing/trim under the driver's side of the gear shift and he disengaged some sort of safety switch that allowed me to shift out of park. I'm sorry I can't be more specific about the steps he took. I just have to be extra careful because now the gears can be shifted while the car is turned off or without a foot on the brake (just like an older car anyway - and at least this way you can get it to your mechanic without paying a tow truck). Car has driven fine otherwise!
My car shakes pretty violently anytime I am accelerating and get close to the 40mph mark. It seems to be less violent after I exceed 50mph and seems to only happen when I am accelerating. What could this be?
