Fuel gauge will go to full but only comes down to just below 3/4 tank even when empty. Low tank light does go on at the right time. I replaced the fuel pump assembly which includes the float with a salvage yard one. It also went to full but also stopped around the same 3/4 point. I put in a salvage yard instrument cluster. It still does about the same thing. There is just a tiny bit of difference between both pumps and clusters. I unplugged the fuel pump and turned the key on and the gauge will still not go below 3/4. Is there another test, wiring issue or should I give up and buy the $170 float/sender unit or do I have 2 bad fuel gauge clusters? I am stumped.
98 Chevy Lumina V-6. I found the brake master Cylinder almost empty. Filled it up but have seen drops around the back firewall/middle of car some type of fluid recently. Just multiple drops. Some of it trans fluid I think. I don't see any wetness between the master and the booster. I haven't checked the wheel cylinders yet. Is there a brake line that goes from one front brake to the other somewhere between the firewall and engine? Is there any brake fluid blocks, ABS, etc. located around there? Please advise. Thank you.
I have a 2002 Ford Explorer Sport Trac that runs well but it has a small, noticeable miss at idle. Acceleration and power are good but gas mileage is down a bit. It has also stalled a couple times while warm backing up (idle seems to be very low when backing up). It has 83,000 and we are the second owners. I have service records but don't see a tune up, plug change, etc. in the file. I think I read these need plugs changed at 60,000? There are no codes currently. The last thing done was a new throttle position sensor right before we bought it. I'm guessing a plug/wire set change? Or is there a way to set the TPS and maybe it was done wrong? air filter is new. I'm getting 12-13 mpg. city with a V-6 driven very easy and soft.
Just bought and it passed smog easily. No vacuum leaks as far as I can tell. idles smooth and runs great. I realize this is a lean run condition so something is causing it to increase the gas mixture too much. There are so many things to check with a P0171 I don't know where to start. I put fuel cleaner in and it is my first tank. I am actually watching the gas gauge go down as I drive. Air filter is fine. No MAF to clean. Need help please.
