there have been issues with the circuit boards on taillights for your type car, just replace it (easy to do) and clean the connector end. the misfire may be due to an oil leak but be aware there is an ignition coil recall coming for your car so "boots" which are part of the coils may be FREE. go to the dealer.
this type of car is known for some ignition coil issues. your car will be covered by a recall for them any day now. they are soooo fragile that spark plug replacement sometimes damages them (no fault of mechanic). get the cat checked too! make sure it passes a "readiness" test
there is an icon in the dash that looks like a car on a key. if this icon was flashing it's an immobilizer (key) issue, if not, it could very well be a fuel pump. keys and vacuum leaks don't usually cause intermittent problems. a fuel pump can be affected by temp changes. this could all be mute if a code is stored for stuff like a speed sensor or something. pull some codes.
does the ck eng lt flash? if so, you may be damaging your cats. you don't say eng type. if its a 4 cyl try removing the oil cap with the engine running, if its impossible you may need a new cyclone breather or worst case a whole valve cover. any eng: add some fuel system cleaner and make sure the throttle valve is clean for best performance. get the fault codes read to see for sure. misfire, idle speed and false air faults will accompany that breather thing.
3 things, gauge bad, sensor bad or car is overheating. a quick output test with a diag machine will test gauge, comparing coolant temp between cluster and engine will answer the other two. either way, you need a diag tester.
does the steering wheel lock and/or release? a fault in the colum lock prevents key on power from flowing. you may need a steering column. please check your owners book for the emergency shifter release in the ashtray area.
check the spare well. the radio code comes there from factory. next is radio op manual first page. if you find a code and it does'nt work, maybe the radio was replaced (new code) so only try once to avoid loking it. give the dealer you radio serial number (starts with "auz") and VIN number but they may charge you (not more than 1/2 hr)
unplug the trans control module. if the car moves it may be electrical in nature, if you still go nowhere and there is fluid in the trans you prob need a tranny.
check the shocks. some shafts in the shocks have come apart causing the whole strut assembly to move (pulls one way accel, other on decel). bouncing does not find this problem.
check the fuse in the right side kick panel area, remove the floor mats, unscrew the thumb wheel and look at the fuse list on the panel. also, are the contacts spread in the lighter socket? if so, reshape them before replacing fuse.
