under hood light on 1994 Chevrolet Suburban 1500

The under hood light wont come on unless the hood is forced up higher and then wont stay on unless hood forced further up. Is there a mercury switch that control this. If so where is the access to it. Maybe it is misalligned or needs replacement. Please advise.

yes, there's mercury in it. it's in the cable at the very back of the bulb. try pushing the light bulb housing closer to the hood, or tight against it

It will not go off prior to maintenance it can on.. will the fuses make it stay on if mechanic had switched thw ones under the hood (the two largest ones).
