Question: Typically how much does it cost to have the turbo engine fixed due to oil sludge

My car smokes really bad I was told its the turbo part of the engine needs to be new or rebuilt. Due to oil sludge issues

    Before you spend any money on repairs for this problem, check out the Class Action Suit in reference to the Enhanced Oil Sludge Warranty Extension for 2001-2004 VW Passats equipped with the 1.8l Turbo engine. You may be able to have your engine repaired at no charge. They do require that you take it to an authorized VW dealer, however. My son owns one of these and we just received the notification in the mail. It is dated 12/20/2010. Good luck!
