A couple of days ago i washed my 1992 bmw 325i, that night my wife drove it and she said she smelled gas she thinks then when she went to drive it later it wouldnt start. It turns over and seems like it wants to start but doesnt stay on. I bought the car in May and have been using the sea foam pretty much every two months and i was told that the sea foam might have washed away a bunch of gunk that was in the gas tank and it went through my filter. Then i had someone look at it and they banged on the gas tank and it started up that one time, but they said they think my exhaust is clogged and my converters need to be changed. I cant imagine all that would have happened when the day before the car ran fine, SOMEONE PLEASE HELP.

If it started when someone banged on the tank, it makes me think that the fuel pump is failing. The gas smell I can't explain unless the gascap is off or there's a fuel leak. Fuel leakage is a fire hazard so be careful. I recommend you tow the car to a BMW specialist.

ok, I had someone look at it yesterday and they said they think my exhaust is clogged and my converters need to be changed which makes no sense to me because when they banged on the tank it started right up so i also automatically thought it was the fuel pump or maybe the fuel filter. By chance would you know where my fuel filter is located, i think it is somewhere around my fuel pump up under the back seat on the passenger side but im not sure cause it maybe an inline filter. As far as the gas smell i dont smell it anymore when i try to start it up.

start for replacing the fuel filter before you go trhuoght mayor and expensive components, also check the fuel hose that goes from the main line to the filter. You can use also a fuel injector cleaner. make it easy first before you pay some one else for maintenance that you may not need. good luck.
