Turn signals and hazard light switch is probably bad and needs to be replaced. It is a simple job to do but take care not to damage the plastic prongs which click into the dash. Also when removing the cover to get to the switch those clips can also easily break.

...s happened. Had to pull the switch to from draining the battery, can drive the car but without turn signals not good idea.
Erratic turn signal operation can be a result of a failing turn signal flasher relay which will require replacement.
