Question: Trying to find out if an estimate to replace the front transmission seal is good

 Rookie

I am leaking transmission fluid and it has been traced to the front seal. I was told that the torgue converter needs to be removed during this process. I was given an estimate of around $1000...said it may be less. Can anyone help me out to determine if this is a valid estimate?

    I looked up the flat rate time which is 7.6 hours to remove torque converter,
    then an additional amount for the front seal if it is that, another problem,
    that can be encountered is when removing and reinstalling the converter, if not
    precise in doing so, you can easily damage a key oring that prevents the torque
    converter from locking up. I hope this helps.
