At first, it would turn over and die, turn over and die. Then, eventually it would start. After driving about 1 mile, it would just die in traffic. The next time I drove it, same thing, turn over and die. The check engine light came on, and now it won't start.

MasterFord fuel pumps are notorious for failing on this model, but typically, they fail in a way that is a crank no start- they usually do not cause it to stall while driving. A failed crankshaft position sensor could cause your issue, but without knowing what diagnostic trouble codes that are in the PCM, it is impossible to advise.
