On an F-150 the best thing to do is to scan the data stream and really look at the Fuel Trim numbers and any misfire counters. Long Term Fuel Trim should be under 10%. Also pay special attention to the Throttle Position Sensor, to see if it is glitching and the EGR values to see if the EGR valve is opening too much off of acceleration.
