Question: Truck cutting out

My truck seems to be cutting out slightly only when accelerating slowly. There is no check engine light on and other than that it seems to be running fine. We changed the fuel filter and it was pretty dirty and it's still cutting out. Any ideas what it could be?

On an F-150 the best thing to do is to scan the data stream and really look at the Fuel Trim numbers and any misfire counters. Long Term Fuel Trim should be under 10%. If it is really high , check your Mass Air Flow Sensor. See www.RepairPal.com/ OBD-Code-P0171 for how to check out a lean Fuel trim problem and the Mass Air Flow Barometric pressure readings. Also pay special attention to the Throttle Position Sensor, to see if it is glitching and the EGR values to see if the EGR valve is opening too much off of acceleration.
