2000 Lexus ES300 Q&A

2000 Lexus ES300 Question: Trouble code P1349

My lexus 00 ES 300 has a code that got something to do with variable valve timing system and I can't figured out please any thing helps thanks -
Answer 1
Customer Concern: Setting a code P1349 for a Variable Valve Timing (VVT) Oil Control Valve (OCV) system malfunction. At times the engine runs rough and misfires on one bank. Has an aftermarket remanufactured engine in it. Transmission goes into failsafe when the code sets. Tests/Procedures: 1. When the problem occurs, remove the OCV and see if it is sticking. 2. Can also try unplugging the solenoid, which would keep it from opening and possibly sticking. Potential Causes: Variable Valve Timing (VVT) Oil Control Valve (OCV) -
Answer 2
this comes a lot from not changing the oil at intervals. sludge gets in the passages and cause the failure. let a shop check it for you. there are tsb on this to replace the solenoid but it is useless if there is sludge in the motor. Roy -
Comment 1
People will figure out that a $9.95 oil change will cause more harm than help. I prefer a full synthetic or synblend lubricant. What is the TSB number Roy? -
Comment 2
I will check and get it to you. Roy -
Answer 3
make sure you used the correct weight oil, 5w30, check for sludge in motor, remove front valve cover, -
