Hyundai Sonata Check Engine Light and Transmission Won't Shift Correctly

(26 reports)

If the automatic transmission does not shift properly and the Check Engine Light illuminates, the speed sensors in the transmission may have failed. The sensors are simple and inexpensive to replace.

Not fixed yet but 65 mph and gear slipped to 3rd and wouldn't shift back up. The error codes generated were P1529 and P0720, I'm hoping to replace the Output Speed Sensor and hope that helps. -
want change out of 3rd gear want go in reverse service light on. -
My car drives from my house to the stop sign. It stops rough. When I put my foot on the gas it moves slow and it whines then jerks. I have to keep pulling over to make it stop. It keeps jerking and the car has stopped running. I just had the input and output speed senors replaced and I also replaced the throttle position senor. Is there anything I can do to find out if the transmission just need service or do I need to replace it. Yesterday I smelt some burned. It was only brief. -
The transmission seems to be stuck in third gear sometime ,the jerks and engine light comes on -

P.o.s.!! Check engine light always on , poor gas mileage, tachometer doesn't work, rough idle, dashboard clock works occasionally, changed almost every sensor in the car!!! Doesn't seem to shift out of 3rd gear, problem yet to be resolved -
Will not drive only in low gear and will have hard thump at 20mph -
I replaced both valve cover Gaskets, Spark plugs, plug wires, Cabin filter, air filter, Pcv valve. Now the car won't shift automatically, I have to do it manually. I checked trans fluid level, and added small amount. Now Check engine light is on And battery light is flickering brought it to the auto store and discovered it had a code P0123 the throttle position sensor. I then double check my censor connection and discover it was not connected. Once connected and the automatic transmission fluid was checked it ran great . All my gear problems had to do with tps sensor not being connected -
Car is jerking and ailing loudly. Seem to be in first gear not switching over. Diagnostics done it seem to be a sensor in the transmission. -
Car over heated. Rt/Rr wheel bearing went bad. Check engine light came on. Had wheel bearing replaced. Pulled thermostat. Check engine stayed on. Drove car and now stuck in 3rd gear. Drove 160 miles to get car home. Car engine ran perfectly. Didn't over heat. Upon breaking at low speed (~ 15 mph) car jerked and felt like it trying to slip into reverse. (Felt like the brakes had locked up). This happened only once during the entire trip. Car moderately jerks when shifting from park to reverse or into drive. The slower I shift, the less the jerk. Haven't had the car diagnosed yet. -
rough transmission shift -
it seems that the transmission doesn't shift properly , than all of sudden you will feel it jolt and the engine light come on -
