My 97' blazer seems to shift hard when it gets warmed up...going from 1st to second makes a clunk noise and shifts hard and from 2nd to third is mild. If i shut the vehicle off and let it cool it stops unless you drive it for 15-20 minutes. Will a new transmission prevent this...this is what i hear. The service engine light is lit and i need to take it to autozone to get the code. I put in a motor from a 96' awd blazer and this is a 97'. I also has to change the service engine bulb and altenator since then. Can anyone recomend anything ? Thanks in Advance!

I had the same problem with my 97 blazer, it turn out to be the valvebody in the transmission watch I got on-line rebuild. I got one for about $210.00 check e-bay at there truck parts section. I replaced it myself I work on trucks so it was easy for me, but most auto shops will tell you that you will need a new transmission so if this just start and you have not run that tranmission hard you maybe able to save the transmission.

Try changing your throttle position sensor. This is a part that is overlooked by many mechanics but it plays a big role as to when your transmission knows when to shift. Good luck!
