Question: Transmission shifting

Truck has 145,000miles on it. Lately it will not shift into overdrive when you first start out, after setting all night. When you drive approx. 3 to 4 miles it shifts to overdrive and acts right the rest of day. Next morning same thing over again.

  when was the last time you had it serviced? it sounds like the valve body may be an issue.
  did the overdrive light come on and flash??

  Thanks, trans has not been serviced. Truck was in Arceauex Ford in New Iberia. The Overdrive switch and shift stick were replaced. They thought this would solve the problem. Didn't, but before I take it back I wanted to see if someone had an idea of what else to look for.

  there is a valve body modifier that you can add to see if it frees up the valves.
  worth a try. otherwise, they are going to reccomend replacing the unit.

  it an additive that you can get at a parts store. if not, any trans shop will have it as they use it when re building units.

  You could have an issue with a valve sticking and the valvebody would need to be updated. If the O/d light flashes at you then that usually indicates an electrical issue. I see that your in Pearland, if you head into the Houston area during the day then I would recomend stoping by one of my locations and we will diagnose the issue for free.
