Transmission problems on 2002 Volkswagen Jetta TDI

The transmission started slipping when put in reverse. Drive shifts out fine. Thought maybe low fluid but drive shifts with no slipping. Reverse went from no slipping to slipping a little to nothing there in about 30 min.
