Pontiac Grand Prix Erratic Shifting of the Automatic Transmission

The transmission pressure control solenoid may fail causing erratic shifting. Our technicians tell us that partial dis-assembly of the transmission is necessary to replace a failed pressure control solenoid.

2005 Grand Prix started jerking before the gear would engage and now you put it in a gear and push on gas peddle and it won't go anywhere in any gear. If you are on a hill it will drift backwards. If you shut it off and wait a while and restart the car and put in gear it will engage but doesn't have much power. Could that be the transmission going bad!! -
Once the transmission gets warm, it revs engine and shifts hard through 1st, 2nd and 3rd gears. Once a speed of 45mph+ is reached the car is fine. Solution, replacing solenoid and having the valve checked out at as well. -

I'll be driving and it feels like a slip of the tranny, this is very spuratic. -
hard upshifting between 1st & 2nd & 3dr.trbl.code 742 torque conv.clutch circuit stuck on yesterday for 10 miles.mile.Car was bucking like a horse on shifting & felt like slippage.could be 1-2 shift or 2-3 shift solenoid. -
Transmission began slipping then stopped pulling in any gear. Diagnosed as the Transmission Pressure Control Solenoid. Replaced the defective part. -
Car shifts hard from 1st, 2nd gear, stops once 40+ mph are reached. Can let the car sit for 2 to 4 hours and it will not shift hard again. -
500 dollar fix, another common issue with this car. -
2000 GP Pontiac, Transmissions shop says not worth fixing yet. Would be to costly.Some times hard shift some times smooth. I will wait for transmission to go bad & then have them rebuild it. Cars been hard shifting since 80,000 miles. -
Erratic shifting. New pressure control solenoid fix the problem. Recall it. -

When shifting into gear 45 mph it slips and slams hard into the next gear. Looking at the high-pressure solenoid to be replaced -
Intermittent hard shifting in all gears. Feels like it has a shift kit. Have had the issue for 5 years now. Only have the problem in winter months (Dec, Jan, Feb) and only shifts hard after it warms up. Shifts perfect in warmer months for the past 5 years. I was told I need a trans solenoid and was quoted $1100 by a local shop. Decided to just drive it until it breaks. -

Car wont shift in to drive. After about 10 miles and has warmed up it does start to shift. -
computer read wrong code car was erratic shifting and hard shifting after the car ran for atleast 20 minutes. had transmission completely tore apart and everything replaced still is not fixed was told it may be the pcm powertrain control module and or the camshaft position sensor which I have replaced both and all o2 sensors. Worst car ever and still too this day at 175000 miles it messes up. -
Every so often, about once a month the car willl shift hard in first and second gear. You let it sit for an hour and it runs fine. WTF. -
