The transmission pressure control solenoid may fail causing erratic shifting. Our technicians tell us that partial dis-assembly of the transmission is necessary to replace a failed pressure control solenoid.

Transmission has been acting up for years. Overheats, shuts down completely. Rough shifts, rolls backwards in Drive, engine races but does not go into gear when accelerating from a stop sign, engine races between 1st and 2nd gears. Had the pressure control solenoid replaced several years ago, but the improvement was only temporary. Also, the AC is not working.
Shifts really hard when trying to get up to speed on an on ramp or taking off frm a stop light. I find that if possible let her sit rest for a bit and she's good to go for a while. After a long day of stop and go and hills she was struggling to shift and when she finally did she over heated. By the time I was able to pull over I had a cracked head. Her shifting and over heating was immediate, not sure if the shifting problem caused the over heating but it seemed that way.
