Transmission or a Sensor?? on 2005 Ford Taurus

My wife has a 2005 Ford Taurus while driving down the road the car just stopped no grinding or rough idle just stopped.she could give it gas but it would not move.The car starts and runs fine no tranny fluid any where no leaks.It only has 60k on it why would this happen?

There are many possibilities, but the important thing to do is get it checked out. It's not uncommon for a transmission to fail with that kind of mileage.

Stripped torque converter splines. see the 5th artice above this posting for an explanation.
