how do you check the transmission fluid if i can't locat the dip stick

  If you have an automatic, it's the same process as the Passat in this question

  If you have a manual transmission, there is a plug on the side of the transmission that you remove to inspect the level. Like spyder says in his reply, your fluid should not be low if it is not leaking. hope this helps
