While coming back from the mountains, and using low gear I noticed that the check engine light came on, and that it automatically switched back into Drive. Once I got down the steep grade section I noticed that the car was having a hard time getting to the higher gears and was running in 4th or so. I pulled over, and was able to get it back into Low gear where I could select the gears myself. Reverse, 3rd and 5th gear all were gone. If I manually selected any of the other gears they would work, although it was a rough transition from one to another. Am currently exploring my options to repair.

Vehicle started jerking and was making a noise, we took it in to the dealer. We were told that it was the purge valve and rack and pinion. We replaced the purge valve, but the jerking was getting worse. We took the vehicle to a automotive repair shop. The traverse was scanned again and now we have P0716 and P0717 fault codes. Waiting to see what are next step is going to be.
