2001 Volvo V70 XC Q&A
2001 Volvo V70 XC Question: Transmission failure.
I am reading where the transmission in these have a high failure rate. I just bought this car with 91k other than a little quick shifting around 37 mile an hour I haven't had any problems. I had a flush done on the transmission just to be safe at Volvo. They installed the 150.00 oil so do I need to get rid of this car or is the 25 whinners on the internet the only ones who have had this problem? - romort628
It is true that many of these transmission did fail, I couldn't say what that rate was though. The good news is that your made it this far, so that is a good sign. I would perform a fluid flush every 30K, and take it to the dealer or a good independent Volvo shop and have the software upgraded, that may resolve the erratic shifting around 37 mph. While your at it, have all the software in the vehicle updated. - Bret Bodas
I just bought this car, and now I find out the transmissions go out. It has 68,000 miles and I don't know if I should keep it. Is there a way to prevent transmission failure?
