Transmission on 2003 Dodge Intrepid

The engine light came on, the codes at a local auto zone said something with transmission. The repair shop says they have to rebuild the electrical portion that deals with the transmission. I have never heard of this, they want to charge 800.00, any thoughts?

They are not really rebuilding the electrical portion, they are replacing it. I have replaced the electrical valve bodies in several Chrysler/Jeep vehicles, so they do fail. I need to know exactly what the code is, because there are several just for your trans. Then I can help you even more. Good Luck!

The transmission has many solenoids and electronic controls that could cause the Check Engine Light to illuminate. The failure of theses controls and solenoids may not result in any noticeable drivability problems. Do you know the codes that were found when a scan tool was connected to the car?
