1990 Ford Taurus Q&A
1990 Ford Taurus Question: transmission
Sounds like you need to have the transmission checked out. This can be from something external like a throttle cable setting or internally inside the transmission. - munkyrench
Is this the first time it's happened? Mine was doing that a couple years ago and there was a code that was minor to be fixed and I had it serviced at a local transmission shop rather than taking it to the ford dealer for twice the cost. The tranny guy was awesome! It's doing it again, but I'm looking for a recall notice that I saw recently. I've had strange weird problems with mine. 97 ford taurus strip down model, no extras...160K miles. I say it has a demon under the hood doing the weird things, but I've seen lost of people who've had similar stuff and not just with Taurus. Good luck to you. Mine has trouble now going from 1st to 2nd and then sticks again at 2nd but it's fine after that and it also changes when the car has sat idling for some time and when the weather dips higher or lower. I'm looking to replace mine with a hondo or toyota ASAP... :-) - Visitor
