I have been advised by at least two different service techs to have my transmission serviced as the truck has 100,000 miles. Have actually been told not to flush, just drain and refill. The owner's manual says to flush, etc... but have been told that many who do so then have tranny trouble. So far none for this truck. What is you best advice on this type of service for this particular truck.

If the trans is working fine, then I would recommend a flush because it cleans out the entire system, including the torque converter. Be sure to use the correct fluid which is usually a synthetic type on your vehicle. Also I would do this every 30,00 miles not every 100,000. I used to rebuild transmissions at Ford Dealerships and this 100,000 mile service interval is way too much, even though the factory manual says it. The 100,000 miles 'tune-up and service' is more of a sales gimmick than a technical reality.
