3.8L LS 2003, I've read on forums...and my transmission takes forever to engage into initial gear. sometmes i have to sit in the car for up to 15mins til its fully warm and it works almost all the time. the other day with the cold weather in nyc lately even at warm it didnt shift into reverse or drive and when i lightly applied gas i kept up until the car jerked into drive and began moving forward. usually the floor shifter shudders and is engages firmly when applying gears. i lowered my volume and i heard a slight whine during driving, after turn off i heard a ticking for several seconds or so. I believe from what i read maybe its the PCS (pressure control solenoid)?? if someone can confirm or give more enlightening info into the problem.

It sounds like your transmission fluid is low. You didn't mention checking the level or condition. Sure the PCS could be causing a problem but problems like this are for the transmission experts, not non-specialists. Unless you find that the fluid is low or in bad condition, there's an internal problem, could be electrical, hydraulic or mechanical, and even if it's as simple as a PCS problem (how would you know?), let an expert handle it. find a transmission shop or a GM specialist:https://repairpal.com/directory?address=11222&...
