no it usually happens when i go to accelerate it acts like it wants to stop the car from going forward but as soon as i let off the gas it usually stops then lets me proceed

Hummm have you hit anything by chance or had you brakes checked. Can you tell where the grinding noise comes from? Do you by chance feel vibration in the brake pedal when this noise happens? The ABS pump can make a gringing type noise when it is operating, Especially under a hard braking situation. that is just it operation. you might feel a vibration from it in the brake pedal. Anyway if it is malfunctioning, it could explain why you are having this. Can you try to have someone outside the car and listen for the noise. Need to try to pinpoint it as there are many thing that can potentially grind. Another thing to consider is those lights being on means there is codes in that system. The problem is only better more expensive scanners will pull the codes. The scanner I or Autozone has wont pull them. you may have to go to a shop for this repair.
