RepairPal Expert Overview:
Airbags use a chemical reaction contained in an inflator module to create the pressure necessary to inflate the bags when deployment is required. These vehicles are being recalled because the front passenger airbag inflator may produce excessive internal pressure when deployed. As a result, the inflator module could rupture, causing metal fragments to strike vehicle occupants. Dealers will inspect and replace any defective passenger front airbag inflator module found.

Owners will be provided an updated vehicle weight label to correct this concern.

RepairPal Expert Overview:
Certain electrical circuits in the airbag system are susceptible to an internal electrical short circuit. A short circuit can create excessive current flow, damaging the electrical circuit. Damaged electrical circuits could result in an inadvertent deployment of the front airbags and/or seat belt pretensioners. This could increase the risk of injury and the possibility of a vehicle crash. Dealers will install a supplemental wire harness containing an electrical filter between the airbag control module and its wire harness to protect the control module from this electrical interference.

RepairPal Expert Overview:
Toyota and General Motors are recalling certain models because the power window master switch assembly in some of these vehicles was built using a less precise process for lubricating the internal components of the switch assembly. Irregularities in this lubrication process may cause the power window master switch assemblies to malfunction and overheat. This could result in the switch melting or possibly catching fire. Dealers will inspect and repair or replace the master window switch as necessary.

Toyota is recalling certain 2008-2010 Highlander, and 2009-2010 Corolla, Venza, and Matrix models because an unsecured or incompatible floor mat may cause the accelerator pedal to get stuck in the wide open position. This can cause high vehicle speeds and may make the vehicle difficult to stop, which can lead to a crash. Toyota will modify or replace the accelerators on the affected vehicles.

This may cause the accelerator pedal to become harder to depress, slower to return, or to become stuck in a partially depressed position, which can increase the risk of a crash. Dealers will install a reinforcement bar in the accelerator pedal so it will operate smoothly.
