Southeast Toyota is recalling certain vehicles because the seat heater element may become damaged as a result of compression of the seat cushion. The damaged element could short causing burning of the seat cushion, increasing the risk of personal injury. Dealers will disconnect seat heaters with copper strand elements and refund the purchase price of the seat heater accessory to correct this concern.
2010 Toyota Tundra Recalls
Vehicles have a tire size/weight rating label to inform owners of the carrying capacity of their vehicle. These models are being recalled because the incorrect vehicle weight rating is shown on the information label. This could result in vehicle and tire overloading, increasing the risk of tire failure. Owners will be provided an updated vehicle weight label to correct this concern.
Southeast Toyota is recalling 1629 vehicles because the tire pressure monitoring system may not have been calibrated correctly. As a result, the low tire pressure warning lamp may not illuminate if tire pressure drops. Operating the vehicle on under-inflated tires can result in tire failure, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will recalibrate the system to correct this concern. This recall is expected to begin during May of 2011.
Gulf States Toyota is recalling 1489 vehicles because the tire pressure monitoring system may not have been properly calibrated. As a result, the low tire warning light may not illuminate if one or more tires becomes underinflated. Driving on underinflated tires increases the risk of tire failure, which increases the risk of a crash. Dealers will recalibrate the tire pressure monitoring system to correct this concern. This recall is expected to begin during April of 2011.
Due to a calibration error, the tire pressure monitoring system warning light may not illuminate to warn of incorrect tire pressure. Driving with the incorrect tire pressure can result in tire failure, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will re-initialize the tire pressure monitoring system to restore proper operation. Toyota has not provided a notification schedule at this time.
These vehicle were sold without the required load carrying captivity modification label. Dealers will mail the corrected label to vehicle owners. Owners have the option of requesting that the dealer install the label. This recall is expected to begin on May 27, 2010.
Southeast Toyota is recalling 2005–2011 models for failing to comply with federal safety standards on tire selection and rims. Affected models were sold without the proper load-carrying capacity modification labels, which may cause the driver to overload the vehicle, increasing the chance of a crash. Dealers will mail the correct labels to the customer or install the label free of charge.
Toyota is recalling 2010 Tundra 4WD models due to an improper weld at the propeller shaft and yoke. This can cause the joint to separate and come into contact with the road surface, which can result in a loss of control and an increased risk of a crash. Dealers will replace the front propeller shaft free of charge.
Toyota is recalling 2005–2010 Avalon; 2007–2010 Camry, 2009–2010 Corolla, Corolla Matrix, and Rav4; 2010 Highlander; 2008–2010 Sequoia; and 2007–2010 Tundra models because the sliding surface of the friction lever may become smooth during operation, which can cause condensation. This may cause the accelerator pedal to become harder to depress, slower to return, or to become stuck in a partially depressed position, which can increase the risk of a crash. Dealers will install a reinforcement bar in the accelerator pedal so it will operate smoothly.
Toyota is recalling 2004–2010 models for an accelerator pedal that can get stuck in the wide open position due to problems with the floor mat. This may cause high vehicle speeds that make it difficult to stop the vehicle, which can result in a crash. In order to correct the problem, dealers will replace the pedals, alter the shape of the floor, and/or replace the floor mats. Toyota will also modify software on certain models to ensure that the brake overrides the accelerator in the event that both are applied.
