Drive Train, June 1, 2011
RepairPal Expert Overview
Our Quick Take:
50 vehicles are being recalled because the right front drive axle may fail. If the axle fails the vehicle will loose power, increasing the risk of a crash.
What Should You Do?
This should be considered a high priority recall because the vehicle could lose power without warning. Please contact your Toyota dealer and they will check if your specific vehicle is affected and advise you on what to do next. It will be helpful to have your vehicle identification number (VIN) handy when you call.
50 vehicles may have been assembled with a right front drive axle that may break due to insufficient heat treatment during the manufacturing process. If the drive axle were to break the vehicle would lose power, increasing the risk of a crash. Dealers will inspect the drive shaft and replace those that may not have been manufactured correctly. This recall is expected to begin during mid June 2011.
