Toyota is Japan's largest automaker. The Toyota Motor Company was founded in 1937 by Kiichiro Toyoda and headquartered in Toyota City, Aichi. Toyota manufactures vehicles under not only the Toyota brand, but as Hino, Lexus, Ranz, and Scion. The automobiles were originally sold under the founding family’s name "Toyoda". The company changed its name to Toyota, one of the reasons being that it took a lucky eight brush strokes to write in Japanese. Toyota is the market leader in hybrid electric vehicles. The Prius family has sold over 5 million units as of April, 2016.
Toyota's most reported problem on RepairPal is associated with the sliding doors on some Toyota Sienna models.
