tires rubbing on 2002 Cadillac DeVille DTS

Just switched from michellin tires to vogue tyres both same size 235/55/17.But the tire on the driver side is rubbing on the shock.Recently replaced lower control arm could the alignment be a cause of that problem?

there could be a problem with the strut. if the other side was ok, then that side should be good too unless there is a bent part. have a shop check it for you. Roy

So you don't think me getting the lower control on the driver side replaced has anything to do with it?

"Toe set" won't cause the tire to rub as you describe, have you alignment figures? Excess negative wheel camber can cause contact between strut and tire. Incorrect wheel off set can cause contact. Have an alignment shop express an opinion.
