timing chain tensioner replacement on 2000 Toyota MR2 Spyder

is the timing chain tensioner located on the outside of the engine or does the timing chain cover (etc) have to be removed first?

at 14000 miles Chevrolet cobalt 2005 motors the timing chain tensioner bolts brake and parts go in to the motor making the motor to be replaced there is no fix on this motor will not have compression . motor must be replaced because parts of timing chain and tensioner bolt goes into motor and destroys all pistons and engine

Timing chain tensioner is rear most mid of the timing cover secured by two nuts/studs. It extends and puts pressure on the timing chain tensioner slipper. I have seen timing chain/sprocket wear but no bulletins from Toyota about it.
