Timing chain on 1998 Dodge Intrepid

If the timing chain breaks will it always require valve replacement with timing chain kit? What other probable damage might happen?

If the timing chain breaks the valves will hit the top of the pistons and cause major internal engine damage and it depends if the engine is at idle when it breaks or at high RPM as to how much damage will occur
