On this 2.3l engine, there is a Cam Sprocket, Crank Sprocket and the Intermediate Shaft Sprocket (which turns the distributor shaft and rotor). When the Crank is set at TDC, the Cam Sprocket mark will be about 5:30. All bolts you are working on will be right-hand thread.
IT IS YOU WHO IS WRONG.....AGAIN WET-FRY! YOUR "BUDDY" IS WRONG, AND SO IS HIS SO CALLED "GUIDE"! OR...MAYBE YOU JUST NEED TO LEARN ENGLISH...THE RIGHT WAY, OR GLASSES...BIG ONES. I NEVER SAID IT HAD A DISTRIBUTOR, IT HAD A DISTRIBUTOR SHAFT AND ROTOR...THIS VEHICLE USES A CAM POSITION SENSOR. FORD WAS USING A DISTRIBUTOR ON THIS ENGINE IN THE LATE 80'S BUT NOW USE A CAM POSITION SENSOR INSTEAD.
WET-FRY, YOU ARE WRONG TWICE ON ONE QUESTION...THERE SHOULD BE A DEDUCTION FOR THAT...
WRONG!! CRANKSHAFT ANGLE SENSOR/CAM SYNC!! NOT A DIST. SO IT CAN'T HAVE A DIST. SHAFT. IT HAS A C.A.S. SHAFT. IF YOU WANT TO GET IT EXACT. THIS IS FUN WHAT ELSE YOU GOT? SINCE THIS PAGE IS PROB. GOING TO BE DELETED.
DZSOYCHBO38Q4YRT087Q34FUIAYBAVDS,734I3Q7PZSRHGPBVUZ!!!!!!!!!!!!!.....................HEY!!!!!!!!!! FELLAS!!!!!!!...............HI.......nothing to add.......VOTE FOR MICKEY!!!!!!!!!!! He's NOT A.S.S. certified and has no malice. ........your.mechanic, for all the expertise and years of experience , you sure seem to have this obsessive need to prove yourself by insulting others. I don't know about wet'f'ry , but I'm glad I'm not certified on 30 year old tests.Oh!!!!! my bad!!!!!....:) Have a nice day , and go vote (I'm gonna write-in that IDIOT ziptie12)
actually you just making yourself look stupid because the mechanic is right it is the crankshaft synchronizer and the camshaft position sensor it is called a p distributorless ignition system (DIS) just thought I'd throw that out there before you go and make yourself look like a retard in front of other people and everything he said by the way is actually pretty helpful if you knew what you were talking about
WRONG! Wet Fry, it is YOU who needs to find a repair guide or a buddy! The 3rd Gear is NOT a distributor shaft! It is an Intermediate Shaft Sprocket. The Distributor Shaft is driven by the Intermediate Shaft. The Camshaft Sprocket mark aligns with the pointer at 5:30.
